Journey in Real Estate

[0:45]

Cody has been working in real estate for six years, and he started working as a realtor when he was 23 years old. Both of his parents have their licenses as real estate agents, and Cody wanted to do something different from his parents. After graduating from college, he decided to work with a different company, but it was hard for him. Therefore, he tried to open my eyes again to this whole real estate thing and look at it through an honest lens.

In Cody's previous job, he made 87 phone calls a day, talking to 15 people trying to set five appointments. He is still very thankful for his previous job because it taught him many valuable sales habits and lessons. So it built it ingrained in his good habits that I think translated pretty quickly in real estate, and that job set him up to build that habit muscle of doing that.

Owning Houses and Property

[2:41]

Cody already bought four houses in four years, his philosophy was he could keep buying homes, but we're not selling ours. That's what we're doing for a while is where you find a good deal. His focus was on building his own real estate residential sales business.

Working as Realtor

[5:22]

Being a realtor helps you build your dream life, but don't let this career run you out of your life. Always set boundaries and have balance in your work life and private life. For Cody, golf has always been his passion, and he doesn't ever want that to change it to a point where he's working so hard that he lost touch with the things he loves. He needs to change something else.

From College to being Realtor

[07:00]

In hindsight, Cody wishes he would have just gone straight into it, and he didn't learn any major skills that would have put him at a huge advantage for what it cost and time and money. He came out of college with debt and started at a $35,000 a year salary, and he could have easily blown through that in my first year of real estate. It's different for everybody. For Cody, see some significant advantages to going straight into this.

Vision after 10 years

[08:20]

Cody wants to get to a point where he sells more than probably 50 houses in a year. He thinks that's a sweet spot for him in his business. Now, what that looks like in 10 years, maybe I'll have higher price points. Maybe he picks and chooses clients, but he also grows them, which helps everybody a rising tide lifts all ships.

Inspiration in life

[10:09]

Cody realizes that nobody will think about him as critically as he's thinking about him
